Description

Digger Ice Auger Mount & Carrier

Secure Your Ice Auger to an ATV, UTV or Snowmobile

The Digger Ice Auger Mount is a lightweight, heavy-duty single-auger carrier designed to securely transport your ice auger on compatible ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, and four wheelers.

Instead of balancing an auger across the machine, holding it while riding, or letting it bounce loose on a cargo rack, the Digger auger mount gives your auger a dedicated carrying position for trips across frozen lakes, trails, and other ice-fishing terrain.

The Digger Ice Auger Carrier uses molded supports to cradle the auger and an adjustable over-center shaft clamp to hold it firmly in place. Clamp pressure can be adjusted to accommodate different compatible auger shaft sizes.

Its frame is built from high-strength alloy aluminum for a combination of durability and low weight, while the auger supports are designed to reduce scratching during transport.

Digger Auger Mount: Set the Auger in the Rack, Clamp the Shaft, Ride

Dedicated Auger Carrier The Digger auger carrier is designed specifically around transporting one ice auger.
Adjustable Clamp Pressure Fine-tune the over-center shaft clamp to securely hold different compatible auger shaft sizes.
Lightweight Aluminum High-strength alloy aluminum keeps the carrier durable without adding unnecessary steel weight.
ATV, UTV & Snowmobile Use the carrier as an ATV ice auger mount, UTV auger mount, or snowmobile auger carrier with the appropriate installation.

The Digger auger mount can be used on different ice-fishing machines when the mounting structure and hardware are compatible.
Adjustable Over-Center Clamp

Secure Different Ice Auger Brands Without a Complicated Locking System

The Digger Ice Auger Mount uses two molded supports to carry the weight of the auger. The center over-clamp then secures the auger shaft so it cannot simply bounce out of the carrier during normal travel.

Clamp pressure is adjustable. This lets you change the amount of holding pressure to better match the shaft diameter of the auger you are carrying.

The design is intended to work with different ice auger brands rather than requiring a brand-specific rack. Weeders Digest has historically used the Digger auger carrier with brands including Jiffy, StrikeMaster, Mako, Eskimo, and other compatible augers.

ATV

ATV Ice Auger Mount

Use the Digger as an ATV ice auger mount on a compatible front or rear ATV rack to keep the auger secure and out of the rider area.

UTV

UTV Auger Mount

Configure the Digger as a UTV auger mount on compatible machines using the appropriate mounting hardware.

SNOW

Ice Auger Mount for Snowmobile

Use the Digger as an ice auger mount for snowmobile applications with a compatible bumper or structurally appropriate mounting point.

1X

Built for One Auger

The D-40 is a dedicated single-auger carrier rather than a multi-tool carrying system.

Polaris ATV or UTV? Most Polaris applications with composite racks or Lock & Ride-style mounting locations require the appropriate Wrench & Ride or Quick Clamp option. Select the mount that matches your machine above.
Always check the Digger auger mount before riding. Confirm the carrier is securely mounted, the auger is fully seated in both supports, the over-center clamp is completely locked, and the auger does not interfere with the rider, controls, wheels, tracks, suspension, lights, or exhaust.

Auger Compatibility

What Ice Augers Fit the Digger Auger Carrier?

The Digger D-40 is designed around an adjustable shaft clamp rather than a brand-specific connection. This allows the Digger ice auger mount to secure many different auger brands when the auger shaft fits correctly within the carrier.

Jiffy

Compatible Jiffy augers can be carried when the shaft fits securely in the molded supports and adjustable clamp.

StrikeMaster

The adjustable clamp can be set around compatible StrikeMaster auger shafts.

Eskimo

Compatible Eskimo augers can be secured by adjusting clamp pressure to the auger shaft.

Mako & Other Brands

The Digger auger carrier is not restricted to one manufacturer. Always test actual shaft fit before traveling.

Compatibility depends on physical fit. Ice auger designs change over time. Make sure the shaft rests correctly in both supports and the center clamp locks securely without damaging the auger.
Do not force an oversized or poorly positioned shaft into the clamp. The auger should sit naturally in the carrier before clamp pressure is applied.

Vehicle Compatibility

ATV Ice Auger Mount, UTV Auger Mount & Snowmobile Rack Options

The correct Digger installation depends on the type of machine and the structure available for mounting.

ATV Auger Mount

Use the Digger as an ATV auger carrying system on many compatible metal ATV racks. It can often be positioned on the front or rear when the structure provides a suitable mounting point and safe auger clearance.

Auger Rack for Snowmobile

The Digger can function as an auger rack for snowmobile use on many machines with a compatible rear bumper or similar metal mounting structure.

UTV Auger Mount

UTV compatibility depends on the bed, rack, rail, or mounting structure available on the machine. Use the correct mounting hardware for your application.

Polaris ATV

Most newer Polaris ATVs with composite rack decks use the optional Wrench & Ride mounting system.

Polaris Ranger

Compatible Polaris Ranger and Polaris General UTV applications use the optional Quick Clamp mounting system.

Vehicle fit is not universal simply because the machine is an ATV, UTV, or snowmobile. Rack material, bed design, mounting holes, model year, aftermarket accessories, and available clearance can all affect installation.

Installation

Installing and Adjusting the Digger Ice Auger Mount

Exact installation varies by ATV, UTV, snowmobile, and selected Polaris mount, but the auger-loading process remains similar.

  1. Choose a safe mounting location.
Select a position that gives the auger adequate clearance from the rider, controls, lights, exhaust, wheels, tracks, suspension, cargo, and moving components.
  2. Secure the Digger auger mount to the machine.
Install the carrier using the mounting hardware appropriate for your rack, bumper, bed rail, or Polaris mounting system.
  3. Confirm the carrier is rigid.
Push and pull the installed rack before loading the auger. The carrier should not slide, rotate, or shift on the machine.
  4. Open the over-center clamp.
Release the center shaft clamp so the auger can be placed into the molded supports.
  5. Set the auger into both supports.
Position the auger so its weight is supported evenly and the shaft aligns naturally with the clamp.
  6. Adjust clamp pressure.
Set the over-center clamp so it closes securely around the auger shaft without excessive force.
  7. Lock the clamp.
Close the clamp completely and confirm the auger cannot lift or bounce free.
  8. Perform a shake test.
Push and pull the auger before moving the vehicle. Reposition or adjust clamp pressure if the auger shifts.
  9. Recheck after riding.
After rough ice, trails, or off-road travel, stop and verify the Digger auger carrier and auger remain secure.
Never adjust the auger carrier while the vehicle is moving. Park the machine on a stable surface and shut it off before loading, unloading, tightening, or servicing the rack.

Polaris ATV Install

Wrench & Ride Installation for a Polaris ATV Ice Auger Mount

  1. Locate the rack openings.
Choose two compatible holes in the Polaris composite rack that position the Digger carrier safely.
  2. Insert the expansion plugs.
Place the rubber side of each Wrench & Ride expansion plug into the selected rack hole.
  3. Tighten the L-brackets.

Care & Safety

Keep Your Digger Auger Mount Secure Between Trips

Check Mounting Hardware

Inspect bolts, brackets, expansion plugs, clamps, and mounting points before each trip.

Check Clamp Pressure

Make sure the over-center clamp closes firmly around your auger shaft without excessive force.

Inspect the Supports

Look for damage, looseness, or excessive wear where the auger rests in the carrier.

Remove Salt & Slush

Rinse away winter road salt, slush, mud, and other buildup when practical.

Recheck After Rough Travel

Rough ice and trails can loosen mounting hardware. Stop periodically and verify the Digger ice auger carrier and auger remain secure.

Store Dry

Clean and store the carrier away from prolonged moisture when ice-fishing season ends.

Follow your vehicle's rack and payload limits. Installing an ATV auger carrier does not increase the rated carrying capacity of the ATV, UTV, or snowmobile.
Keep the auger clear of the operator. Install the carrier so the cutting head, flighting, powerhead, or other auger components cannot contact the rider during normal use or sudden stops.
