Description
Ice Fishing Jacket With Built-In Flotation & Rescue Features
The StrikeMaster Jacket combines cold-weather outerwear with integrated safety-assist features designed for anglers who spend time on frozen lakes.
Built into the coat are buoyancy-assist foam, carbide Ice Arm Grips in both forearms, a 15-foot rescue strap with throwing hook, reflective safety material, light-stick locations, and multiple storage pockets.
If an angler unexpectedly breaks through the ice, the jacket's flotation-assist foam is designed to provide added buoyancy while the integrated Ice Arm Grips give the wearer carbide gripping points that can help create traction against slippery ice.
For shoppers searching for an ice fishing life jacket or ice fishing life vest, it is important to understand that this StrikeMaster Safety Jacket is flotation-assist outerwear and not an approved Personal Flotation Device.
A built-in rescue strap adds another emergency tool. Approximately 15 feet of webbing with a throwing hook is stored in the upper-left forearm area so a line can be extended toward another person while keeping rescuers farther from weak ice.
Emergency Features Built Directly Into the StrikeMaster Jacket
Carbide Ice Arm Grips in Both Forearms
One of the jacket's most distinctive features is the pair of integrated Ice Arm Grips located near the lower forearms.
Each grip uses carbide extractor-style studs to provide harder contact points against the ice. If an angler enters the water unexpectedly, the gripping surfaces are intended to provide additional traction while attempting to pull back onto a solid ice surface.
During normal wear, the grip areas remain protected beneath covers so the carbide surfaces are not unnecessarily exposed.
Carbide Grip Points
Hard gripping studs provide more traction than fabric alone against wet, slippery ice.
Both Forearms
An Ice Arm Grip is incorporated into the lower portion of each forearm.
Protected During Normal Use
Protective covers keep the gripping panels concealed until they are needed.
Always With the Jacket
The extraction grips remain with the wearer instead of being stored separately with other fishing equipment.
Safety Features
Built-In Ice Fishing Safety Features
Flotation Assist
Built-in buoyancy-assist foam provides additional flotation if the wearer unexpectedly enters the water.
Original 275 lb Claim
The current product description states that the assisted-flotation design was intended to help support a person weighing up to approximately 275 lb.
Ice Arm Grips
Carbide extractor-stud panels in both forearms provide gripping points intended to assist during self-rescue.
Emergency Rescue Strap
Approximately 15 feet of webbing with a throwing hook is stored in the upper-left forearm area.
Safety Light Locations
Shoulder locations are provided for light sticks to help increase visibility in dark or low-light conditions.
Reflective Safety Material
Reflective sections help improve visibility when illuminated by headlights, flashlights, or other light sources.
How It Works
How the Jacket's Ice-Safety Features Are Intended to Help
- The flotation-assist foam adds buoyancy.
If the wearer enters the water, the jacket's integrated foam provides added flotation assistance. - Expose the Ice Arm Grips if needed.
The carbide gripping panels are normally protected beneath their covers. - Use the gripping points against solid ice.
The carbide studs are intended to provide additional traction while attempting to move onto a stronger section of ice. - Deploy the rescue strap if needed.
The approximately 15-foot webbing can provide additional reach during an emergency. - Use visibility features in low-light conditions.
Reflective material and light-stick locations can help make the wearer easier to locate.
