Kasco De-Icer Replacement Propellers

Restore Water Movement With the Correct Replacement Propeller

Has your Kasco de-icer propeller taken years of abuse from weeds, sticks, ice, debris, or normal seasonal use? A worn, chipped, cracked, or damaged prop can reduce water movement and cause your de-icer to operate less efficiently.

These genuine Kasco replacement propellers are designed as direct replacement props for compatible 1/2 HP, 3/4 HP, and 1 HP Kasco De-Icers.

Choosing the correct propeller matters. Each horsepower uses its own propeller design, pitch, and Kasco part number. Match the replacement prop to your de-icer horsepower before ordering.

Available options include a 2-blade propeller for 1/2 HP de-icers, a 2-blade propeller for 3/4 HP de-icers, and a 4-blade propeller for 1 HP de-icers.

Why Propeller Condition Matters

A Damaged Prop Can Reduce De-Icer Performance

Your de-icer depends on the propeller to create the water movement that brings warmer subsurface water toward the surface.

If a blade becomes chipped, cracked, bent, heavily worn, or otherwise damaged, the prop may move less water than intended. Damage can also create vibration or wobble while the motor is running.

Replacing a damaged Kasco deicer propeller can restore proper water movement and smooth operation when the propeller itself is the cause of the performance problem.

Before every winter season, inspect the propeller along with the cage, shaft area, sacrificial anode, cord, and mounting hardware.

FLOW

Restore Water Flow

A replacement prop can restore de-icer water movement when the original propeller is worn or physically damaged.

FIT

Designed for the Correct Unit

Each Kasco replacement propeller is engineered for its associated horsepower and de-icer model family.

SALT

Freshwater or Saltwater

These Kasco replacement propellers are designed for use in freshwater, brackish-water, and saltwater applications.

DIY

Serviceable Replacement Part

The reverse-threaded prop design allows the correct propeller to be replaced when maintenance is required.

Choose by horsepower before ordering. A 1/2 HP, 3/4 HP, and 1 HP de-icer do not use the same propeller. Check the model label on your existing Kasco De-Icer if you are unsure which horsepower you own.

Compatibility

Which Kasco De-Icer Propeller Do I Need?

The easiest way to choose the correct replacement propeller is to identify the horsepower and model number on your Kasco De-Icer.

De-Icer Size Common Model Family Propeller Kasco Part Number
1/2 HP 2400D 2-Blade Propeller 240170
3/4 HP 3400D / 3400HD 2-Blade Propeller 340125K
1 HP 4400D / 4400HD 4-Blade Propeller 440430
120V vs. 208-240V: For the 3/4 HP and 1 HP de-icer families, select the replacement propeller by horsepower and model family. The voltage designation does not create a separate propeller option on this page.
Do not substitute an AquaThruster propeller simply because the horsepower is the same. Use a propeller specifically listed for your Kasco De-Icer application.

How to Find Your De-Icer Size

  • Look for the model label on the motor housing or power-cord identification information.
  • 2400-series de-icers are 1/2 HP.
  • 3400-series de-icers are 3/4 HP.
  • 4400-series de-icers are 1 HP.
  • If the label is damaged or unreadable, contact Weeders Digest before ordering.

Features

Kasco Replacement Propeller Features

OEM

Genuine Kasco Replacement

Designed specifically for the associated Kasco motor size rather than using a generic aftermarket propeller.

REV

Reverse-Threaded Design

Kasco replacement propellers use reverse threading for installation on the motor shaft.

SALT

Saltwater Durable

Suitable for freshwater, brackish-water, and saltwater de-icing applications.

HP

Horsepower-Specific

Each propeller is matched to the hydraulic load and performance requirements of its associated de-icer size.

Why genuine fit matters: Propeller pitch, blade design, diameter, and motor loading work together. Installing the wrong prop can reduce performance or place unnecessary load on the motor.

When to Replace

Signs Your Kasco De-Icer Propeller May Need Replacement

Propellers operate in an environment where weeds, sticks, ice, fishing line, debris, rocks, and other underwater objects can cause gradual or sudden damage.

Chipped Blade

Missing material changes the shape and balance of the propeller and can reduce water movement.

Cracked Propeller

A visible crack can continue to spread under load and should not be ignored.

Excessive Vibration

A damaged or unbalanced prop can cause noticeable vibration or wobble during operation.

Reduced Water Movement

If the cage is clear and the motor is operating normally but circulation is weaker, inspect the prop for damage.

Rounded or Worn Blade Edges

Long-term abrasion from sand, suspended material, or debris can gradually alter blade condition.

Impact Damage

A strike against a rock, dock component, stick, or other solid object can damage the propeller even if the motor still runs.

Reduced flow does not always mean the propeller is bad. Weeds, leaves, plastic, fishing line, or other debris around the cage or propeller can also restrict water movement. Disconnect power and inspect the complete unit before ordering replacement parts.

Installation

Replacing a Kasco De-Icer Propeller

The propeller is a serviceable part, but the de-icer must be fully disconnected from electrical power before any work begins.

  1. Disconnect the de-icer from power.
Unplug the unit and make sure it cannot accidentally be energized while you are working.
  2. Remove the de-icer from the water.
Perform propeller replacement on a stable, dry work surface.
  3. Inspect the cage and propeller area.
Remove weeds, fishing line, debris, or other material wrapped around the shaft or propeller.
  4. Confirm your replacement prop.
Compare the de-icer horsepower and model family with the replacement part before removing the original propeller.
  5. Access the propeller.
Remove or reposition the protective cage components as required to safely reach the propeller.
  6. Remember the propeller is reverse threaded.
Do not force the propeller as though it uses conventional threading. Follow the applicable Kasco service procedure for removal and installation.
  7. Install the new propeller securely.
Make sure the replacement prop is fully seated and correctly installed on the shaft.
  8. Inspect the sacrificial anode.
While the propeller area is accessible, check the zinc anode and replace it if it is significantly depleted.
  9. Reassemble the cage.
Confirm all protective components and mounting hardware are secure before returning the de-icer to service.
  10. Return the de-icer to the water before operation.
Never test or run the de-icer dry on a dock, shoreline, or workbench.
Never work on the propeller while the de-icer is plugged in. Disconnect electrical power completely before touching the propeller, cage, shaft, or other moving components.

Maintenance

Inspect the Propeller Before Every De-Icing Season

A quick inspection before winter can catch propeller damage before the de-icer is installed under a dock or in difficult winter conditions.

Inspect the Blades

Look for cracks, chips, missing sections, distortion, or unusual wear.

Clear the Cage

Remove weeds, leaves, sticks, fishing line, plastic, and other debris that could restrict water movement.

Check the Anode

Inspect the sacrificial zinc anode around the propeller shaft and replace it when significantly depleted.

Clean the Motor Housing

Remove heavy buildup from the motor housing so the submerged motor can properly transfer heat to the surrounding water.

Zinc anode maintenance: Weeders Digest recommends inspecting the anode regularly and replacing it yearly or sooner when it has lost more than approximately half of its original material.
