Description
Cutrine® Plus Granular Algaecide is ideal for bottom-growing filamentous algae, and benthic algae such as Chara and Nitella. Also effective in controlling the rooted aquatic plant, Hydrilla.

- Chelating agents prevent the precipitation of copper with carbonates and bicarbonates in the water for longer activity
- Stays active in the water longer than copper sulfate
- Ideal for algae in deeper waters or bottom growing algae – use Cutrine® Plus Algaecide (liquid) for algae on the surface or in the water column
Cutrine Plus Granular chelated copper algaecide controls algae before it reaches the surface. Ideally suited for bottom growing algae and spot treatments along docks, beaches, boats, launches and fishing areas. Do not use in waters containing koi, hybrid goldfish, or trout or if hardness of the water is <50ppm. A cost effective solution with easy application. How to Apply
A. Large area treatment, over 5,000 sq ft
- Identify the target growth: Chara, Nitella, bottom filamentous algae, or Hydrilla.
- Estimate plant height in feet, from bottom to top.
- Calculate the surface area of the treatment zone in acres.
- Use the table to find pounds of product per surface acre based on target and plant height.
- Distribute evenly over the water surface directly above the vegetation. A dry fertilizer spreader helps ensure even coverage.
Surface acres = Length (ft) × Width (ft) ÷ 43,560
Form of growth | 1 ft height | 2 ft height | 3 ft height |
---|---|---|---|
Bottom filamentous | 20 lb | 40 lb | 60 lb |
Chara / Nitella | 30 lb | 60 lb | 90 lb |
Hydrilla | 70 lb | 140 lb | 210 lb |
Rates are per surface acre based on plant height.
B. Spot treatment | under 5,000 sq ft
Apply 1.5 lb per 1,000 sq ft. If water is less than 1 ft deep, reduce by 2 oz per inch of water per 1,000 sq ft to avoid exceeding 1.0 ppm copper.
