FAQ

FAQs

What types of augers will the carrier fit?

It fits virtually all ice augers—gas models, cordless drill units, and newer hex‑shaft battery-powered designs—thanks to its adjustable arms and removable 1‑inch jaw insert.

Which vehicles can I mount it on?

The carrier mounts easily on ATVs and UTV’s with metal racks, snowmobile bumpers, trailers/cargo baskets, and with optional brackets it fits vehicles with Polaris Lock & Ride® systems.

How does the locking mechanism work, and is it quick to release?

Simply drop the auger into the carrier, lift and lock the jaws shut, and then when you arrive at your fishing location, simply pull the spring‑loaded release pin and the jaws open up for quick and easy removal.

How sturdy is the build for rough terrain or off‑trail use?

Built with heavy‑duty powder‑coated steel and high‑density polyethylene, the unit is designed for durability even when traversing rough ice or trails.

What’s the installation like and do I need special tools?

Standard mounting uses U‑bolt clamps for metal racks. For Lock & Ride® systems there are specific bracket kits. Basic tools are sufficient. No electric tools or drilling required.

Can I carry more than one auger or additional gear in it?

It’s optimized for one auger. While you might affix other gear nearby, the carrier isn’t designed for multiple augers or bulky loads.

What if I frequently switch vehicles or locations?

The mount is designed for quick removal—brackets can remain mounted, and the carrier can be unlocked and moved easily between vehicles (or trailers). This flexibility supports multi‑vehicle use.

Are there special adaptations for different auger shaft sizes?

Yes—the inner jaws are removable/replaceable to adapt to thinner shafts such as cordless drill augers or larger shafts such as battery-powered units–ensures a snug, rattle‑free fit.

How important is securing the auger for long travel across ice or rough terrain?

Very important—an unsecured auger can shift, damage equipment, or fall off during transit. This carrier’s locking mechanism and robust mount help prevent that risk. Ensuring proper tightening of the clamps and checking regularly is key.

What maintenance should I perform on the carrier to ensure long‑term service?

Rinse off any ice‑salt or slush after use, check bolts and U‑clamps for tightness periodically, inspect the locking pin and jaws for corrosion or wear, and store out of direct moisture when off‑season to maximize lifespan.
