The 40 gal Big Foot filter is suitable for irrigation pumps 1.5 hp and below. For 2 hp and above, the 80‑gal Big Foot filter is compatible.

Can I use this kit in shallow water or near the bottom?

Yes—but ensure the filter intake is elevated slightly off the bottom so it doesn’t draw sediment. The stand height adjustment helps with that. Avoid placing directly on a silty bottom. Also, it’s important to make sure that the filter stays submerged when drawing in water to avoid any air intake.

Will this kit protect my pump from debris or vegetation in the lake?

Yes—the filter matting captures smaller debris and prevents clogging of pump, and the check valve and hose set help ensure consistent suction. For heavy vegetation loads, you still need to monitor the intake screen and clear debris around it.
