FAQs

FAQs

Does the float attachment significantly reduce operator fatigue compared to hand-held use?

Absolutely. The float carries most of the tool’s weight, so you're not lifting it manually—cutting becomes much easier, especially over longer sessions cutting aquatic weeds. But the biggest benefit of the float attachment and long handle is the increased reach into areas that would be otherwise inaccessible without it.

How long does it take to assemble the float unit out of the box?

It arrives nearly pre-assembled—you’ll just need to snap on the floats and adjust the frame. Most users report it's ready for use in under 10 minutes.

Can I upgrade to a longer handle length after purchase?

Yes! You just need to call us to purchase the extension handle(s)

Will the aluminum floats support use in saltwater environments?

The aluminum frame resists rust, but the floats themselves are high-density plastic. They perform well in both freshwater and saltwater, though saltwater users should rinse occasionally to reduce corrosion.

How do I adjust the cutting depth?

A depth-adjuster plate lets you dial in the cutting depth up to 4 ft. It locks securely on the frame to maintain consistent depth as you cut through cattails & other dense pond weeds.

Can I use this on irregular pond bottoms or shallow areas?

Yes—the floats help the cutter glide over uneven terrain and keep the blades aligned. For shallow zones, simply adjust the depth plate for minimal clearance.

How do I transition between float and handheld modes?

It’s quick—just detach the float frame and you're back to handheld operation in seconds—no extra parts needed.

Will this work with different brands of aquatic cutters?

No, It’s designed specifically for the Aquatic Vegetation Groomer (AVG).

Is it safe to leave the float attached when storing the AVG?

Yes, storing them together is fine if you have the space. Just clean off vegetation and let dry before storing in a cool, dry place to avoid mildew or build-up. Although it is easier to transport if they are separated. But it is completely up to the user.

    AVG in bulrush

Posted by Pond Ron on 24th Mar 2022

We have a 1 acre pond in California that is thick with dense tule (California bulrush). I was a bit dubious that this tool would be very helpful, but it's been great. The tule is very thick so I have to cut a few feet in along a 100' or so edge, then use a rake to haul all the cut tule away. But I have a pretty good process down and it's way better than what I was doing before!

Does exactly what it's intended for!

First of all, the people at Weeder's Digest are great. They helped me get my order complete and get a better price on shipping. When we broke it out to start the work, my husband donned his hip waders to get into the lake. He started on shore and easily cut the cattails! Then when in the water, it easily cut the hydrilla, lily pads and more cattails. The hardest part is gathering up all the debris to remove it from the lake. We couldn't take on this project without the AVG. We love it
