Description

Jettison™ Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide

Fast-Acting, Broad-Spectrum Control for Aquatic Weeds and Algae

Take control of your lake, pond, or waterway with Jettison™ Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide. Formulated with a powerful 69.1% concentration of the Mono(N,N-dimethylalkylamine) salt of Endothall, Jettison is a Group 31 contact herbicide designed to tackle stubborn algae and invasive aquatic plants in quiescent (still), slow-moving, and flowing water sites.

Jettison utilizes an innovative delivery system: liquid concentrated gel beads packaged in pre-measured, water-soluble packets (WSPs). This means no messy pouring, no complicated measuring, and minimized chemical exposure for the applicator. Simply drop the packets into the water as directed for highly effective, targeted aquatic weed management.

Package Contains X4, 5oz packets

Key Features & Benefits

  • Innovative Gel Bead Technology: Concentrated liquid gel beads are housed in convenient, dissolvable packaging.

  • Targeted Release: Packets sink into the water column as they dissolve, getting the active ingredient closer to submerged weed beds.

  • No-Mess Application: Pre-measured 5 oz. packets eliminate the need for liquid measuring, mixing, and specialized spray equipment.

  • Broad-Spectrum Efficacy: Effectively controls a wide range of nuisance algae (such as filamentous and planktonic algae) and problematic submerged aquatic weeds (such as Hydrilla, Milfoil, Pondweeds, and Coontail). See the product label for the complete list of controlled species and specific dosing tables.

  • Versatile Use Sites: Approved for use in still water (ponds and lakes), slow-moving water, and flowing aquatic environments.

  • Irrigation Safe: When used as directed, water treated with Jettison is generally not expected to cause phytotoxicity to irrigated crops and plants (refer to the label for specific cultivar testing exceptions).

  • There are four 5oz packets per container.

Application & How It Works

Jettison is a contact algaecide and herbicide, meaning it actively targets and breaks down the cellular structure of the plants and algae it touches. For the best results, apply Jettison only when target algae and plants are actively present and growing.

Because aquatic environments are highly variable, keep in mind that the susceptibility of algae and weeds may vary depending on the specific subspecies, local strains, or environmental conditions like water temperature and depth.

The Drop-and-Go Method:

  1. Determine your treatment area based on the label's required parts-per-million (ppm) dosage for your specific water depth and target weed.

  2. Apply Jettison as evenly as possible across the designated treatment zone.

  3. Toss or drop the individual, unopened water-soluble packets directly into the water.

  4. Watch it work: The water-soluble packet may initially float on the surface before dissolving and sinking directly into the water column, releasing the concentrated gel beads precisely where they are needed.

Active Ingredient

Mono (N,N-dimethylalkylamine) salt of Endothall: 69.1% (Equivalent to 30.45% Endothall acid)

Important Safety Restrictions & Fish Care

Sectional Treatment: Treatment of heavy aquatic weeds and algae causes decaying biomass, which depletes oxygen and can cause fish suffocation. Never treat more than ⅓ to ½ of the water body at one time. Begin treatment along the shoreline and proceed outward in bands to allow fish to escape into untreated, oxygen-rich areas. Wait a minimum of 7 days before treating the remaining sections.

Do not open, cut, or use partial packets. The packaging is carefully designed to dissolve entirely in the water.

Not for use in small volume garden ponds.

Do not use in waters containing Koi or hybrid goldfish. Fish may be killed by dosages in excess of 0.3 parts per million (ppm).

Do not apply in brackish or saltwater environments.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Applicators must wear protective eyewear (goggles, face shield, or safety glasses), long-sleeved shirt, long pants, shoes, socks, and chemical-resistant gloves.

Disclaimer: Always read and follow the complete product label for specific application rates, targeted weed species, and comprehensive safety instructions before use. It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.

Ponds and Small Lakes With Little To No Outflow

For applications to ponds and small lakes with minimal outflows use the following rate chart to assure adequate contact time with the weeds is achieved.
Apply JETTISON water soluble packets (WSPs) directly to water in multiple locations around the perimeter of the water body. This will allow for rapid mixing throughout the water body as well as the water column. Do not use partial water soluble packets; do not open water soluble packets. Always round down to the lowest number of whole water soluble packets.
For best results, apply in early spring when weeds or algae are actively growing with a minimum of 24 hours contact time.
Due to potential fish toxicity, it is suggested that applications above 0.3 ppm be made only by commercial applicators as marginal or sectional treatments. Or, consult a UPL Aquatic Specialist for additional site-specific recommendations.
Apply JETTISON at the following rates:
