FAQs

What’s the average run time per charge?

The WaterBug runs up to 5 hours on a full charge, depending on weed density and operational speed.

How does the WaterBug handle uneven lake bottoms or rocky areas?

It’s designed for smooth, shallow areas. If the sickle cutter runs into an obstruction like a large rock, fence post, or stump, it will shear off the shear pin. This protects the sickle cutter from damage. Simply replace the shear pin to resolve. Operators should avoid submerged obstructions to avoid shearing off the shear pin.

Can one person carry and launch the WaterBug alone?

Yes. It’s compact and arrives on its trailer with a 2” receiver. At 375 lbs., it is lightweight enough for one person to launch.

Does it cut or pull weeds?

It cuts and collects floating and submerged lake and pond weeds using a front-mounted sickle cutter and conveyor belt that lifts material into the storage bunk.

How much vegetation can it hold before needing to be emptied?

The storage bunk holds 600 lbs of wet vegetation.

Can it be used in deep water away from the shoreline?

Yes, but it is designed to cut and collect submerged lake weeds down to 30” water depth.

What is the range of the remote control?

The Wireless remote siteline range is 1,000 feet.

Is it noisy during operation?

No. It’s battery powered and runs quietly, making it ideal for residential lakefronts without disturbing wildlife or neighbors.

Does it require any routine maintenance?

No, but it is recommended that you clean the cutter bar and conveyor after each use, check for plant buildup around the drive system, and fully recharge the battery before storing.

Can the WaterBug operate in light algae blooms or floating pollen mats?

Yes. It’s effective for surface algae and floating debris.

Is the WaterBug a duckweed harvester?

The WaterBug can collect floating vegetation such as duckweed and other surface debris, making it useful for customers searching for a duckweed harvester for pond and shoreline cleanup.
