Description

WeedShear Aquatic Weed Cutter + UltraLite Lake Rake Combo

Cut Lake Weeds. Rake Them Up. Enjoy a Cleaner Waterfront.

The WeedShear Weed Cutter & UltraLite Lake Rake Combo is a two-tool aquatic weed removal system designed to cut submerged lake and pond vegetation, then collect the loose weeds before they drift away or settle on the bottom.

This combination pairs the 49-inch WeedShear aquatic weed cutter with the lightweight 36-inch UltraLite Beach & Lake Rake for managing nuisance vegetation in swimming areas, around docks, along beaches and near pond edges. The WeedShear’s razor-sharp V-shaped stainless steel blade assembly sinks and cuts aquatic weeds near the base of the stems, helping clear thick submerged growth such as milfoil, hydrilla and other pondweeds.

After cutting, use the all-aluminum UltraLite Rake to gather the loose vegetation. The rake includes a detachable float kit for surface skimming and a 25-foot retrieval rope. Choose 7 ft, 11 ft or 15 ft rake handle lengths; longer configurations feature removable extensions for shorter-range work.

Both tools are manually operated: no gasoline engine, electrical hookup or battery charging required.

  • 49" WeedShear cutter

  • Two 25 ft retrieval ropes
  • Detachable rake float, blade sharpener and gloves

Why This Combo

Why Choose the WeedShear & UltraLite Rake Combo?

Cut & Remove in One Session

The cutter removes plant stems while the rake collects detached weeds.

Wide Weed Cutting Path

The 49-inch blade width cuts substantial sections of submerged vegetation with each pass.

Lightweight Raking

At approximately 4–7 lb, the UltraLite is easier to maneuver than many heavier rakes.

Reach Farther From Shore

Choose a longer handle and use the retrieval rope to collect floating weeds farther out.

Skim Floating Vegetation

The detachable float keeps the head near the surface for loose weeds and algae mats.

Easy Storage & Transport

Tool-free quick-release rake connections and foldable cutter components.

Rake After Cutting

Why Rake After Cutting?

Some aquatic weeds can spread through detached fragments. Collecting cut vegetation also helps prevent drifting weed mats and reduces the amount of organic plant debris left to decay in your water.

Check local regulations.

Aquatic plant cutting and removal rules vary by location. Confirm requirements for your lake or pond before cutting protected or regulated vegetation.

How It Works

How It Works

How the WeedShear & UltraLite Lake Rake Work Together

Cut first, rake second.

  1. Cut the Submerged Weed Bed

Use the WeedShear to cut aquatic vegetation near the lake or pond bottom in an authorized treatment area.

  2. Retrieve the Cutter

Pull the WeedShear back using its handle or the 25-foot rope, depending on the method and conditions.

  3. Identify the Cut Vegetation

Depending on the species, cut plants may rise, remain suspended or settle nearby.

  4. Collect the Loose Weeds

Use the UltraLite rake to pull detached vegetation toward shore. Add the float for surface collection when appropriate.

  5. Remove the Debris From the Water

Lift collected plants out of the water, then dispose of them according to local rules.

  6. Clean and Store

Rinse and inspect both tools, remove vegetation and dry components before storage.

Cut first, rake second.

The WeedShear is designed to sever plant stems. The UltraLite rake is designed for collecting loose vegetation rather than acting as a heavy-duty cutting tool.

WeedShear Cutter

The Cutter

WeedShear: 49-Inch Razor-Sharp Lake Weed Cutter

A manually operated aquatic weed cutter whose wide V-shaped stainless steel blade sinks toward the lake bottom and severs nuisance submerged vegetation close to the base of the plant.

49-Inch Cutting Path

Slightly more than four feet of cutting width per pass.

V-Shaped Blade Assembly

Engages aquatic vegetation during a pulling motion.

Stainless Steel Blades

Durable cutting surfaces for submerged plant stems.

Adjustable Handle

Snap-button connections accommodate different manual cutting setups.

25 ft Retrieval Rope

A toss-and-retrieve option for appropriate open-water areas.

Blade Sharpener Included

A handheld sharpener helps maintain the cutting edges.

What Weeds Can WeedShear Cut?

  • Milfoil and other submerged aquatic plants
  • Hydrilla stems
  • Coontail and other loose or attached submerged vegetation
  • Submerged pondweeds
  • Accessible water lily and lily pad stems
  • Selected cattail stems when used appropriately by hand
Cutting is not complete root removal.

Although the blade operates near the base of the plants, underwater roots, rhizomes, seeds and tubers can survive. Some species may grow back.

Sharp blade warning:

Use extreme caution when unpacking, assembling, operating, retrieving, sharpening or storing the WeedShear. Keep people clear of its cutting path.

UltraLite Lake Rake

The Rake

UltraLite: Lightweight Beach & Lake Rake

An all-aluminum collection tool for gathering loose aquatic vegetation and shoreline debris without the weight of many heavier-duty rakes. Its 36-inch head uses four-inch tines angled about 15 degrees to improve grip.

36-Inch-Wide Head

A three-foot collection width gathers loose weeds across a broad area.

4-Inch Angled Tines

Improve collection of detached vegetation.

All-Aluminum Construction

Lightweight and resistant to ordinary freshwater corrosion.

Approximately 4–7 lb

Assembled weight depends on the selected handle length.

Removable Float Kit

Skim floating weeds and debris at the surface.

25 ft Rake Rope

Reach floating material farther from shore.

Quick-Release Handle

Tool-free breakdown for storage and transport.

Extended Handle Choices

Select 7 ft, 11 ft or 15 ft to match the desired working reach.

Best use:

The UltraLite is well suited to gathering cut aquatic plants, loose weeds, leaves, floating algae mats and other light surface debris. For dense, heavy submerged weed piles, consider a heavy-duty rake such as RakeZilla.

Does the combo remove aquatic weeds permanently?

No. WeedShear primarily cuts stems. Many aquatic plants can regrow from roots, rhizomes, seeds or other structures.

Why do I need a rake after using WeedShear?

Cut vegetation may float, drift or settle. The rake gathers the loose plants so you can remove them instead of leaving them to decompose.

Can the UltraLite rake collect floating algae?

It can collect some reachable floating filamentous algae mats and loose debris. It is not a treatment for algae growth.

Can the UltraLite rake pull heavy rooted weeds?

It is primarily a lightweight collection rake. For heavy rooted vegetation, use a suitable cutter or more specialized tool.

Rinse and dry it, inspect the blades and handle, check the rope, and sharpen the edges with the included sharpener when needed.

How do I maintain the UltraLite rake?

Rinse off weeds, algae and sediment; inspect the tines, handle and float; dry the rope; and store securely.

Will the aluminum UltraLite rake rust?

Aluminum resists ordinary rusting, but cleaning and drying after use helps extend its service life.

Can this kit remove lake bottom muck?

No. It cuts and gathers aquatic vegetation but is not intended for excavation or dredging.

Does the combo include a pitch fork?

No. This is a two-tool combo. A separate WeedShear, lake rake and pitch fork package is available.

What is the difference between the UltraLite combo and a RakeZilla combo?

The UltraLite combo emphasizes light handling and floating debris collection. A RakeZilla combination may better suit heavier accumulations.

Should I choose the 7 ft, 11 ft or 15 ft rake?

Seven feet works well for close-range collection, while 11-foot and 15-foot versions offer increased reach.

Can I leave the rake outside?

The aluminum resists rust, but storing it away from continuous weather exposure helps preserve the handle, rope, float and connections.

Do I need a permit to cut lake weeds?

Regulations depend on the state and waterbody. Check with your state natural resources agency or local authority.
