Description

Weeders Digest recommends replacement of the Aqua Thruster's zinc anodes every year - or sooner if anode is more than 50% depleted.

A zinc anode is easy to replace on the shaft of all Aqua Thruster motors.

This Zinc Anodes works with all 1/2 hp - 3/4 hp - 1 hp Aqua Thrusters

AquaThruster Zinc Anodes are necessary for protection from corrosion due to electrolysis. The zinc anode should be inspected regularly and replaced if reduced to half of its original size or if white in color.

Corrosion from electrolysis is more commonly associated with saltwater or brackish water, but as a matter of precaution it is important to periodically check the zinc anode in all installations (at least every two to three months)

FAQ

FAQs

Why is a zinc anode necessary for my AquaThruster?

It protects internal and external metal parts from corrosion caused by electrolysis, especially when mounted near docks with electrical wiring or metal frames.

How do I know when it’s time to replace the anode?

Replace it when it's more than 50% corroded or visibly pitted. A full season of use is a good replacement interval for most users.

Can I install this without taking apart the AquaThruster?

Yes. The anode clamps externally onto the shaft or motor mount. No internal disassembly is required.

Will using a zinc anode void my AquaThruster warranty?

No. In fact, using an anode is recommended to extend product life and may help avoid damage that voids warranty coverage.

Is this anode compatible with all AquaThruster motor sizes?

Yes. It fits 0.5 HP to 2 HP AquaThruster models with standard shaft diameters.

Does this help reduce algae or muck buildup?

No. It doesn’t treat water or muck. Its sole purpose is to protect your motor from metal corrosion.

Is one anode enough for long-term protection?

Yes. One properly installed anode is sufficient. Check it seasonally to ensure it’s still intact and making solid metal contact.

Can this be used in saltwater or brackish water?

Yes

How long does it take to install?

Less than 5 minutes. It comes with mounting hardware and installs with basic hand tools.

What happens if I run the AquaThruster without an anode?

Over time, corrosion from electrolysis may damage the motor shaft, fasteners, or bracket. An anode helps prevent costly repairs.
