2. Important Things to Know About Proper De-icer Maintenance


PROPELLER BLADES:

Over the months and years of operating your deicer the props can get warn out. This can be caused by underwater debris and ice that gets sucked through. Replacing a de-icer propeller blades that has nicks and dings will improve its performance, reduce electrical costs and reduce future wear and tear on the deicer motor.  BUY NEW DE-ICER PROPS HERE

ZINC ANODE REPLACEMENT:

A zinc anode is supplied on the shaft of all Kasco equipment for protection from corrosion due to electrolysis. The zinc anode should be inspected regularly and replaced if reduced to half of its original size or if white in color.

Corrosion from electrolysis is more commonly associated with saltwater or brackish water, but as a matter of precaution it is important to periodically check the zinc anode in all installations (at least every two to three months) BUY REPLACEMENT DE-ICER ANODES HERE


SEALS & OIL:

The motors on Kasco equipment are sealed assemblies; the seals are subject to wear over time. Replacement of the seals and a change of oil every three years will help add longevity to the motor and potentially reduce costlier repairs later. If you think you need your seals or oil serviced please contact the number at the bottom of this page.

Seal replacement and all other repair services should be performed by Kasco trained authorized repair facilities. Any alterations or changes made to units by an unauthorized source will void the warranty. This includes tampering with the unit, power cord or control box.
