Controlling Watermilfoil In Your Lake Or Pond

Physical Management of Watermilfoil

Watermilfoil has a root system which means the roots need to be destroyed to prevent the plant from coming back.

Herbicide Control of Watermilfoil

Herbicide control is a great option for Watermilfoil because you can literally apply the herbicide and then sit back and let it do its work. Most herbicides can control Watermilfoil throughout the season and only needs to be applied once a year.

Herbicide Products To Control Watermilfoil

Navigate Granular Aquatic Herbicide-          Navigate Granular

Navigate Granular is formulated on special heat treated attaclay granules that resist rapid decomposition in water. They quickly sink to your lake or pond bottom and release 2,4-D into the critical root zone.

Initial effects are indicated by brittle stems and curling leaf tips and are noticeable within 7 to 10 days. A full kill will occur within 3 to 5 weeks.

Hydrothol 191 Granular Aquatic Weed Control-          Hydrothol 191 Granular

Hydrothol 191 Granular is highly effective at killing Watermilfoil in the application area and not away from the targeted area. It’s active ingredient is Endothall, mono (N,N-dimethyl alkylamine) salt.

Hydrothol 191 Granular is a slow releasing herbicide which accounts for its long lasting effects. Studies show Hydrothol 191 Granular present in the lake bottom 3 months after its application and had no effect on aquatic life because of the slow release of active chemicals.
