Description
Dead Algae & Muck Removal Clarifier | The Black Pack
The Black Pack is a 3-in-1 pond muck reducer kit that pairs a Biocatalyst, Liquid Beneficial Bacteria and Muck Reducer Tablets to accelerate the natural decomposition of dead weeds, algae and other dead floating aquatic vegetation, as well as bottom sediment, in lakes and ponds.
Working together, the three products help clean out sludge, muck, nitrogen & phosphates in the water column and on the bottom, while dramatically improving your pond or lakefront aesthetic, smell and ecosystem.
- Biocatalyst speeds the breakdown of dead algae and dead weeds
- Liquid Beneficial Bacteria consumes degraded vegetation, sludge, nitrogen & phosphate
- Muck Reducer Tablets sink to digest muck that settles on the lake or pond bottom
- Designed for dead algae mats, floating debris, shorelines and swim areas
- All-natural biological approach that reduces the need for chemical use

Three Products, One Dead Algae & Muck Cleanup Plan
Each product in this pond muck reducer kit handles a different stage of the cleanup — from breaking down dead floating vegetation at the surface to digesting the muck that settles on the bottom.
Biocatalyst
Lab formulated and designed to boost the breakdown of dead weeds, algae and other dead floating aquatic vegetation in lakes and ponds. This in turn speeds up how quickly Liquid Beneficial Bacteria can digest and remove the broken-down flora and excess nutrients in the water column.
Liquid Beneficial Bacteria
Works great for consuming the remaining degraded vegetation, sludge, muck, nitrogen & phosphate left behind by the Biocatalyst, helping clarify the water.
Muck Reducer Tablets
Consume the remaining muck and organic sediment that sinks to the bottom of your lake or pond during the degradation process started by the Biocatalyst and Liquid Bacteria.
These products alone will not kill living plants in lakes and ponds, but the Biocatalyst’s molecular makeup can boost the performance of certain aquatic algaecides such as Cutrine Plus Liquid Algaecide or Cutrine Plus Granular Algaecide (depending on the location of the weeds), allowing for less chemical usage. If you want to kill living algae, add one of our suggested Cutrine algaecides or check out our other Black Packs that include Cutrine Plus, such as Black Pack Max.
Everything You Need to Break Down and Remove Dead Algae
The Black Pack bundles three Weeders Digest water quality products so you can treat dead algae mats, floating debris and bottom muck in one coordinated program.
- 1 Gallon – Liquid Beneficial Bacteria
- 1 Gallon – Biocatalyst
- 20 lbs – Muck Reducer Tablets
Muck Reducer Tablets are typically 1/10th to 1/20th of the cost of dredging, making a biological pond muck reducer kit a practical first step for shoreline, swim area and whole-pond maintenance.
Beneficial bacteria and the Biocatalyst work by breaking down and digesting organic material over time. They are not a physical dredge, and results build with repeated applications.
More Than a Dead Algae Cleaner
The Black Pack is built to improve the look, smell and overall health of your lake or pond while it breaks down dead vegetation and bottom muck.
Speed Up Dead Algae Breakdown
The Biocatalyst accelerates the degradation of dead algae, dead weeds and floating debris.
Reduce Sludge & Muck
Liquid bacteria and muck tablets consume sludge in the water column and organic muck on the bottom.

What's Included
What’s in the Black Pack 3-in-1 Muck Reducer Kit
The Black Pack includes 1 gallon of Liquid Beneficial Bacteria, 1 gallon of Biocatalyst and 20 lbs of Muck Reducer Tablets. Learn how each product works below.
Biocatalyst – Overview
Biocatalyst is an all-natural formula that enhances and boosts the breakdown of proteins and complex carbohydrates found in aquatic plants. Biocatalyst releases specific bio-stimulants that allow the naturally occurring bacteria and fungi to take over degradation of the dead flora and fixation of available nutrients.
If using on dead aquatic vegetation such as algae, dead weeds and other floating debris, it will boost the effectiveness of Liquid Bacteria so it can digest and remove the broken-down flora much quicker.
Benefits
- Used as an adjuvant
- Allows for quick recycling of nutrients
- Speeds up the degradation of dead aquatic plants so that Liquid Bacteria can consume and remove them from the water column
- Improves the performance of algaecides and herbicides when used to kill living plants
- Reduces or eliminates the need for chemical use
- Improves water quality
- Rainfast via improved absorption
- Safe for the environment and the applicator
- Premium grade & laboratory formulated in the United States
Liquid Beneficial Bacteria – Overview
Liquid Beneficial Bacteria is an all-natural, high-performance bacterial blend that fixates nitrogen and phosphorus to clarify water. Applicators use this product to quickly increase clarity and produce the “wow!” effect for their clients.
This product contains a synergistic blend of 12 different beneficial bacteria with a higher growth rate than any dry blend. Because these bacteria fit together so well, they confuse the quorum sensing that limits bacteria growth and are able to coat the entire water body.
Benefits
- Establishes healthy bacterial cultures
- Consumes nitrogen & phosphate
- Reduces sludge & muck
- Balances pond
- Keeps pond and fish healthy
- All natural: safe for humans, fish, wildlife, other living organisms and plants

Application & Dosage
How to Apply the Black Pack
Follow these steps to treat dead algae mats, floating debris and bottom muck. Always read and follow each product’s label directions.
-
Mix Liquid Bacteria with Biocatalyst and spray the target area
Mix the Liquid Bacteria with the Biocatalyst and apply to the target area using a sprayer. This will immediately penetrate and begin to break down the dead algae near the surface of the water column.
-
Apply the Muck Tablets to the target area
- If the target area is dead floating algae mats: Apply tablets to what remains of the surface of the mat and the mat decomposition area. This can be done any time after completing step 1. The muck tablets that stay on top will assist in digesting dead flora, and the tablets that fall through will sink to the bottom and continue to remove unwanted muck accumulation in your lake or pond.
- If there is no algae mat, or it is not thick enough to hold tablets: Apply tablets to the areas where you would like to reduce muck on the bottom.
- For best results, try to space the tablets 3–6 inches apart to maximize performance.
-
Wait 14 days before a second tablet dose
Wait 14 days from the first application of tablets before a second dose can be applied (if necessary).
