WaterGator Remote Controlled Aquatic Weed Harvester

The WaterGator features the same technology as the Waterbug including a harvesting camera that shows the operator what the WaterGator sees on the remote viewing screen.  The WaterGator also features  "Auto Leveling Sensor" which is a sensor that overrides the operator if the sickle cutter attachment gets too close to the lake bottom which protects the sickle cutter from damage. This harvester is ideal for larger ponds, lake shores, channels, and other medium size bodies of water.  Based on that, the WaterGator is the perfect solution for lakefront owners, lakeshore management companies, lake associations, or anyone looking to easily manage their waterfront or get into the harvesting business to make money!

The WaterGator features paddle wheel propulsion with four paddle wheels, two on each side of the machine.  The paddle wheels are powered by two 24v lithium batteries that give the operator 8+ hours of run time on a single charge!  The machine only weighs 875 lbs. and has a bunk storage capacity of 1,200 lbs. which is two-times the storage capacity of the Waterbug.

FAQ

FAQs

What exactly does the WaterGator do?

It’s a remote‑controlled lake weed harvester that cuts, skims, and collects aquatic vegetation (both submerged and floating) on lakes, ponds, and rivers.

What are the key physical specs I should know?

Some of the key specs: 42‑inch harvesting width, 48” cutting depth, bunk storage capacity ~1,200 lbs, weight ~850–875 lbs, operates in as little as ~4 inches of water.

How is this powered and how long will it operate per charge?

It uses dual 24 V lithium batteries, giving 8+ hours of runtime on a single charge.

What kind of depth and environments can it work in?

It works in shallow water (as little as ~4″) and can cut down to 4 feet when equipped with the cutter attachment. Designed for “medium size” ponds, channels, and lakes.

How is this different from conventional weed‑rakes or cutters?

Conventional rakes often require physical handling in the water and it is labor intensive. The WaterGator can be remotely operated from shore and eliminates physical labor. Automating large‑volume weed removal and productivity.

What are the main attachments or optional features?

Options include a sickle cutter to cut lake weeds down to 4’, Side sickles for cutting floating weed mats and dense vegetation, net extensions, and skimmer booms for skimming floating debris.

What kind of maintenance or operator requirements apply?

Periodic checks of battery status, charging, hull/float inspection, cleaning of debris from intake and conveyors, ensuring remote camera and view screen are functional. Also safe trailer transport if moving.

Is this machine suitable for a homeowner or is it more for commercial use?

While it is marketed for lakefront property owners and associations, given its size (875 lbs) and cost, it’s more suited for larger properties, associations, or commercial operations rather than small backyard ponds.

What logistics do I need to consider for launch, transport, and storage?

Because it weighs 875 pounds, you will need a tow vehicle for transport. Storage out of water when not in use is wise, and you’ll need a docking/launch area.

How does this machine help solve waterfront nuisance vegetation beyond cutting?

By removing the vegetation and biomass, it reduces nutrient loads, prevents regrowth, clears swimming zones or navigation paths, and can avoid the need for repeated herbicide or manual labor solutions.
